Joe Biden Was Right (about one thing)

Some of you may remember when Joe Biden made the comment that within six months the Obama administration will face an international incident. Well girls and boys this is it, however it is important to keep in mind that this is probably just the beginning of events like this. Iran is burning, the outcome of recent elections in that country, although not a surprise to anyone who follows history, they would know that the Islamic state has never allowed an incumbent president to be voted out, have been igniting a powder keg of dissent and possibly an attempted Revolution.

It is important to understand that we do have a dog in this fight and it is not the opposing candidate, Musavi, or any other Muslim extremist propped up by the supreme leaders of Iran, our dog in this fight is the Iranian people. The Iranian people, who are screaming out for freedom from behind the dark vale of Islamo-fascism, Obama was quick to credit himself and his platitude filled speech in Egypt for changing the face of the middle east, when early election returns showed Ahmadinejad’s opponent in the lead. Now however with the Islamic state arresting political activists, shooting demonstrators in the street and sentencing dissenters to death, Lord Barack is noticeably silent, claiming it would be wrong for an American president to be seen as meddling in Iranian affairs. Yet this is the same man who speaks of the "universal principle of democracy," apparently. He does not believe those universal principles reach the country of Iran. Nor does he have a problem meddling in the affairs of Israel, dictating to them, where they can live where they can build and that they should be more open to the demands of groups and countries that openly call for genocide of the Israeli people.

In his usual fashion Obama will wait until the winners are sorted out before he chooses a side. Now don’t misunderstand, no one is asking for military intervention, but how about some word of encouragement for the Iranian rebels, and this is a rebellion. More importantly if it is so vital that we not appear as meddlesome, then what rights do we have to speak to this nation about their nuclear program. What credibility then does his statements about America leading by example when it comes to disarmament and other similar issues really have. Obama asks the Iranian government to "unclench its fist," However the unclenched fist he has asked for is pounding its open hand on the door of freedom and Obama has turned a deaf ear. President Obama is much more comfortable curling up with the latest offering from the Hugo Chavez book of the month club than embracing a democratic revolution in one of the worlds most hostile regimes and the messy transfer of power that goes with it.

A Disturbing Series of Events

I understand that there are drones out there who will defend, and contort themselves in any number of ways to justify and rationalize anything that lord Obama and the democrats say or do to be fair the same holds true for many republicans, this article is not for you. But if you have any inkling of independent thought or common sense, you realize that the federal government is completely out of control and what we are about to discuss will disturb you.

  1. Timothy Geithner, while testifying in front of congress recently said that money paid back from TARP loans does not in fact go back to the American people, instead it goes to replenish the fund, and that TARP legislation gives the Fed permanent bailout authority. What was equally or maybe more disturbing was the surprise displayed by lawmakers who seemed totally unaware of the unconstitutional authority that they have bestowed upon the treasury and the executive branch.

  2. In a related story Henry Waxman, admitted to reporters that he had never in fact read the economic hog tie cap & trade bill that bares his name, Claiming that he just trusted the U.N. scientists who wrote the legislation. Knowing that congress is allowing the United Nations to write U.S. law is an egregious insult But congress was not finished ridiculing the voters. In an outright display of disrespect to those who have been petitioning legislators to read bills before voting for them, democrats hired a speed reader to read the bill before the energy committee.

  3. While on the lam in China from questions about enhanced interrogations, Nancy "the face lift" Pelosi recently said "Every aspect of our lives must be subject to an inventory of how we are taking responsibility for climate change." I find it interesting that Pelosi was talking about climate change in a country whose leadership has said repeatedly that it will not sacrifice economic growth for environmental concerns, knowing this my gut tells me she was not there to talk about climate change. But what does it mean "every aspect of our lives must be subject to an inventory"? Who takes this inventory? Who gets to decide compliance or "responsibility"? What happens if someone decides not to comply with these arbitrary regulations. How would this "inventory" be enforced? This is a puzzling and disturbing statement, I have often made the argument that global warming, climate change whatever their calling it now is nothing more then the latest leftist attempt to confiscate more of our liberty. If this statement isn’t a perfect example of that I don’t know what is. The question is how much of your freedom will you hand over to supposedly protect the environment.

  4. Never to be outdone is President Obama. In a speech billed by the media as the dueling speeches due to Vice President Cheney speech on the same subject shortly after, the president, in front of the actual constitution ironically enough, blasted the Bush administration’s Guantanamo bay policy as illegal and immoral. In the same speech Obama laid out his plans for preventive detention. That’s right the President is advocating establishing a legal framework that would allow authorities to detain prisoners indefinitely without ever committing a crime or having any physical evidence that they may do so, only the suspicion of a threat. In a nutshell what the President is saying is that everything the Bush administration did was illegal, however he will look to establish a legal foundation on which he could pursue the same policies to an even further extreme and not be prosecuted. How’s that for hope and change?

THE IRRITATING SILENCE OF ELEPHANTS

The Future of the republican party is a hot media topic these days. Who is the leader of the GOP? Should they present themselves as more moderate or more conservative? This type of media template is nothing new, it was also applied to the Dems until they won back the congress in 06.

The Republicans do have a real problem, and it isn’t that they have moved to far right. The fact is polls among the party base shows just the opposite and further polling of a wider cross section of voters show that Obama’s big government policies are not that popular, and this is in direct conflict with his Personal poll numbers.

The Republican party however has been irritatingly inept and downright mute in leveling criticism toward the President. This is incredibly vexatious since Obama gives fresh ammunition to his detractors on an almost daily basis. The question is why, The answer is the GOP leadership is infected with John McCain types. These big government rinos are not really all that upset with President Obama’s power grabbing policies, they’re just mad it’s not them grabbing the power. The other truth of the matter is that the republican party really began alienating its own base shortly after the election of George W Bush; putting his compassionate conservative nonsense aside, Bush portrayed himself as a republican in the mold of Reagan, But tax cuts do not a conservative make, and he soon revealed himself to be quite the opposite. Government expanded drastically under President Bush, entitlement spending rose by 25% he nearly doubled education spending and created the massively expensive prescription drug program. The base however wasn't willing to bail on the guy while the Iraq war was raging. After losing congress Bush settled all too comfortably into the role of lame duck, he put forth his own stimulus pkg at the beginning of the recession, remember those groovy $600 dollar checks, well at least we got a check out of it. He then set the table for Obama’s scourge of nationalization with his signing of TARP; and using it to fund the auto bailout after the American people overwhelmingly rejected the idea was the final nail in the coffin. Combine that with the fact that Bush lost his veto pen early in his presidency allowing an undisciplined GOP to spend themselves into the minority.

What republicans should learn from this is conservatives have far fewer patients with unprincipled leadership then do our ends justify the means driven liberal counterparts. This manifested itself again in the failed McCain presidential bid. McCain fractured his own base with his staunch support of Illegal immigration and cap & trade. This kept a lot of conservatives away from the polls or forced them to cast third party ballots. The problem the McCain types face is that the big government approach has been a historically proven loser for republicans, sure it might get them some accolades in the press and a pat on the back from across the isle but it never translates at the ballot box.

The answer is not to become more like McCain, or to somehow reinvent the wheel but just the opposite. Voters remember that Ronald Reagan crushed the opposition twice and many republicans in office now made it to D.C. on his coat tails. The reason Reagan won by such large margins is because he wonderfully articulated the American spirit; individual liberty, freedom of self determination, low taxation and limited government is a time tested winning formula.

One thing the republicans should pluck from the democrat play book is their talent for not only being the loyal opposition but a noisy one. That means connecting Obama with his policies and not mincing words about what they are, and what they are is Marxist. This will of course draw the ire of the Obama adoring media, But so what, the national media will attack them no mater what they do, so they might as well go in swinging.

Barack The Anti Founder

New York Times magazines recently published an interview in which President Obama claimed that "Wall Street will no longer play a dominant role in our economy." He also stated that lower salaries on a wall street as a result of regulation imposed by his administration are in fact a "healthy thing." His logic is that it will drive talented workers into different and in his opinion more noble professions. True, but aside from the arrogant assumption that the United States will be following his economic blueprint for time eternal, I’ve learned to Expect that level of conceit from this man, what was even more disturbing was this statement; "We don’t want every college grad with an aptitude for mathematics to become a derivative’s trader. We want some of them to go into engineering, and we want some of them to be going into computer design." First, I would love to ask the president, who is we, exactly? What I do know is when Obama says we he is not talking about you and me.

Like all of Obama’s focused grouped statements, this seems innocent enough on the surface. After all who would have a problem with their son or daughter becoming a scientist or engineer. But just because someone has an "aptitude" for math doesn’t mean they mean they will seek a career in one of these fields, and even if they do it doesn’t mean that they will end up in that profession. People for the most part don’t aspire to be wall street traders when they grow up then settle into a career in engineering. In fact it is usually just the opposite, and to go one further if someone did have a passion for science or engineering that person could fund an endowment with some of those evil wall street profits, in turn benefitting society many times over.

The Reality is that draconian government regulation and statist attempts to mandate demand only create more of the bubble and burst economic events that Obama claims he is trying to stamp out. This approach will also drive down salaries overall. The laws of economic are a lot like the laws of gravity, absolute. If workers migrate from one profession, because of diminished salaries, that creates a surplus of workers else ware in the market, Therefore, driving down wages.

When Barack Obama speaks in terms of we, he really means I. Obama is the quintessential Marxist, he believes that it is governments role to determine the winners and losers of society. In every way Barack Obama is the anti founder. In his own words he views the constitution as "a flawed document of negative rights." He rejects the limitations it places on centralized government, and he faults the founders for not addressing "economic justice." Economic justice is the Marxist euphemism for wealth redistribution. But as much as Obama Wraps himself in hope and change, his ideas are old and stale.

The founders recognized his type long ago. It was Samuel Adams who said this; " The utopian schemes of leveling and a community of goods, are as visionary and impractical as those which vest all property in the crown. These ideas are arbitrary, despotic, and in our government unconstitutional." The founders were much more concerned with the equal distribution of natural rights and not the equal distribution of things. The founders did not believe rights were the governments to distribute, Obama believes rights are the provinces of the state, to be rationed as he sees fit.

Obama loves to speak of equality. The founders addressed this as well. Ben Franklin often wrote that kingly government seizes power under the illusion that it will somehow establish equality among citizens, and it was John Adams who said "That all men are born with equal right is true. But to teach that all men are born with equal powers and faculties, to equal influence in society, to equal property and advantages through life is as gross a fraud, as glaring an imposition on the credulity of the people as was ever practiced." The founders new that men who made false promises of equality would only lead the nation toward tyranny.

President Obama is walking briskly down that despotic road, by arbitrating the recent Chrysler bankruptcy he exceeded the bounds of the executive and assumed the role of the courts. He has shown a complete disregard of fiduciary law. He deploys the Treasury Department as a means to reward his political allies, by encroaching further and further on private property and industry. For now these actions give him the appearance of fighting for the little guy. But with this style of governing you always need fresh domestic bogeymen to trot out in front of the public. Eventually he will have none left to blame.

After world War II the communist party assumed power in Hungary, they immediately began confiscating farmland and turned it over to the workers. (Sound familiar) The workers rejoiced at the "justice" handed out by the government. But as the economy collapsed over time, the government began to reclaim the land. The workers immediately complained about their property rights. If they complained too much they were jailed, if they kept complaining they were executed. Are we at that point? No. But that road is never a long one.

CHOCOLATE & PEANUT BUTTER; NATIONALIZATION EVEN I CAN GET BEHIND

Now that President Obama has turned Chrysler into a bottomless taxpayer funded candy dish for the UAW, and I wouldn’t place to much hope in the fiat merger especially since the Obama administration won’t allow Fiat to actually come on board until Chrysler can repay their bailout loans, and as most people know this administration is not to keen on accepting TARP repayments. I have come around to the Barack Obama point of view, that maybe all this nationalization stuff isn’t such a bad idea. After all if my taxable income is going to pay for the income and pensions of people I have nothing do with, or who provide absolutely no public service, or if I have to now pay for the warranty work & back the loans of cars I don’t own, All for the simple reason that I was not aware that somewhere in the constitution it say’s that UAW workers are the responsibility of the American taxpayer; then I feel like I’m entitled to a little bit of socialized happiness of my own.

I have decided to draft a petition to be sent to the President recommending the nationalization of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Not all of Hershey’s just the Reese’s division. I say this because there is no better example of American confectionary exceptionalism, The Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup is truly a single serving of packaged happiness. My recently expanding waistline is not only proof, but a direct result of this, and in these tough economic times it is only fair that Obama seize this evil capitalist company, that for too long has profited from exploiting the sugary cravings of their unwitting victims, and fairly redistribute this divine joy among the masses.

I figure it would cost less than 10 billion dollars annually to keep the American people on a peanut buttery endorphin high. And since the President has unilaterally decided to give the United States a majority ownership roles in financial institutions instead of paying back the taxpayer, what’s another 10 billion.

But how would the government handle the distribution? There would certainly need to be an age limit. Sort of like the British health care system, you just cant allow children unlimited access to the candy store(remember that’s only for the UAW), they would simply eat too much. Exactly like the Obama administration’s chief economic advisors view of the way Americans utilize health care. What I do know about Government programs is that there is mandated regiment to be followed if you want to receive the benefits. For example Pennsylvania’s WIC Program rations how many times per month you can go grocery shopping. WIC also dictates what brand of product you can buy, and what grocery items you can buy in a specific week. You also need to provide the state with regular medical reports on your children.

The cost control thing does have me a bit vexed. What I love most about Reese’s is the wonderful variety they offer, the Original Reese’s, The Fastbreak Bar, Reese’s pieces, The sinful nutrageous, and of course my favorite the Big Cup, only problem is they don’t seem to be available in large bags. But not to worry, the governments comparative Reese’s research analysis board would undoubtedly make the proper decision as far as which one of these products would be best for all of the American people. And of course let’s not forget what makes a Reese’s a Reese’s, the peanut butter, there’s just nothing like it. A close second is Nutter Butter peanut butter, but I digress; I fear in an effort to equally distribute the goodies and suppress cost, the government may cut corners or tamper with the recipe.

Ok, maybe it’s not such a great idea. And much to my chagrin, unlike my recent shoulder surgery, which was performed at one of the best orthopedic institutes in the country(The Rothman), within one week after contacting the surgeon, who happened to be one of the best on the region, I don’t believe I’ll just be able to walk into the supermarket and grab as many Reese’s as I would normally have the freedom to enjoy. I guess the saying Freedom isn’t free doesn’t only pertain to warfare.

Mr. PRESIDENT THIS IS NO TIME TO VOTE PRESENT

Someone needs to remind our President that he no longer has the option of voting present. It has been four days now since Somali pirates, in a failed hijacking attempt of an American cargo ship, took Captain Richard Phillips hostage. Even more recently Pirates in the horn of Africa have seized another American owned tug boat. All this coincidentally after the Obama E.U. apology tour.

In those four days the U.S. Navy has raced to the scene in an attempt to hem the pirates in while keeping other pirates out in an a brazen attempt to rescue their comrades. There has been very little comment on from a usually quite chatty Obama administration, and zero word from the President himself. In fact when asked about the situation during a press conference, the president chastised the media saying "come on guys were talking about housing".  Let's put this in perspective; I understand that the best option here is not to just blow the Somali pirates out of the water while holding an American hostage.(They should have been doing that before they started taking hostages, unfortunately the U.N. doesn't want to violate the right of the pirates. The same Pirates who are now using hostages as human shields against sniper fire.) Waiting them out is surely the best option.  However none of this changes that fact that there is an American being held hostage by the same people who not that long ago were celebrating as they dragged the naked body of a dead U.S. soldier through the streets of Mogadishu.

Barack Obama's silence on this is not only deafening, but it has resonated in the ears of all our nations enemies. Again I'm not looking for the president to come out on this with guns blazing. A proper response at this time would be a stern warning of reciprocity if any harm were to befall Captain Phillips. This is the type of bear trap scenario that ensnares a political animal like Barack Obama. His senatorial instinct wants to play both sides of this issue. Take the credit for a positive resolution, act as a bystander if things go bad, at the executive level you just don't have that option, and these are just the type of situations in which the American people look to there president for leadership.  What I fear most is that Obama's paralysis will embolden our more dangerous enemies, putting even more Americans either at home or abroad in harms way. Let's Pray that I'm wrong

kissing their @#% and calling us names

The Barack Obama, Say your sorry, your and American E.U. tour, is winding down, and whatever Barack Obama actually acomplished remains to be seen. These G20 summits are usually just a glorified global dip into the pocket of the American tax payer. This one was no different. Barack Obama  however took this opportunity to severly weaken american sovereignty; by signing on to the E.U. financial Stability board or FSB Obama has handed  vast regulatory authority over all American business to the European Union. The network media has of course been silent about this, they are more intrested in Michelle's designer dresses in Paris and the Queens Ipod.
While Barack Obama trot around the globe portraying weakness, blaming his own country for the worlds problems and lecturing Americans from overseas about our arogance and reluctance to acknowledge the leadership of europe. (he must have been talking about their leadership in unemployement) our enemies are escalating their rhetoric and activities. Most notoably North Korea with impeccable timing, launched their latest long lange rocket, on the same day the president gave a Speach commiting to a world free of nuclear weapons. The President respondend to this by calling on the U.N. to institute tougher sancitons on North Korea's already non existent economy. One wonders why Obama's good buddies in Beijing didn't give him a heads up at the G20 about the day the north would be launching, being that nothing actually happens in North Korea without Chinease approval. That european missile shield doesn't seem like such a bad idea right now. Let's not forget good old Hugo Chavez who recently mocked the presidents foreign policy by saying that "he too would like to hit the reset button." The taliban as well have become more active since Obama has reached out to "more moderate factions" whatever that is, even going so far as to threaten attacks on U.S soil.
For the most part our Presidents have great leaders, not arrogant narcisist who go overseas and insult the American people and the presidents that came before him at every opportunity. Great leaders such as Abraham Lincoln did whine about the founders punting slavery down the road in order to ratify the declaration, FDR didn't waste time blaming Hoover, and Ronald Reagan certainly did not harp on Jimmy carter at every opportunity for the mess he inherited.
You don't have to be an international diplomat to know that the number one priority of the international diplomat is his own countries agenda. One gets an Emperor's new cloth's kind of impresion when Obama meets with these foreign leaders. They seem to have him well figured out; as long as they give him a good photo-op and sound-byte sufficently stroking his ego, then he becomes more and more malleable to their interest, while sacrificing those of the United States. The bottom line is when foreigners start telling Americans who we should elect as president we should run to the other guy. Maybe next time we'll remeber that.

OBAMA, NOT SO MUCH CHANGE, BUT AN EVER EXPANDING MUTATION

I have to ask, is this the change that the citizen was looking for. After critizing the previous administration for reckless spending (in which I happen to agree) were you looking for a government to quadrouple our national debt and hang a thirty-three thousand dollar yolk around the neck of every citizen in just 2 months. were you looking to ensure a harder less prosperous road for your children and grandchildren by condemning them to a lower standard of living and a worthless currency.

Did you wish to install a government that shreds our constitution?  Disregarding states rights by passing legislation that allows district council representitves to disregard the authority of their governers, Or by assembling Congress like some third world politburo to use the tax code to target individual citizens, Or by trying to confer on themselves; the executive and the Treasury, the power to sieze companies that they feel are a threat to the economy, whatever they may be, whether they have taken taxpayer money or not. Where you so ready to embrace a government so eager to limit economic freedom? Do you not realize that individual freedom and economic freedom are inseparable? Or are you content to allow government to ration your freedom, like as if it where theirs to do so?

I ask the same of those who railed against the patriot act, of which I myself am no great advocate, however I challenge anyone to bring forth one name of an AMERICAN not involved in some criminal or terrorist enterprise, who has had their personal privacy or property violated. Yet you have no Problem with giving the government unresrticted access to every citizens personal medical records. Every doctor visit, every precription, every blood test, every one of the bad habits you omit from you insurance application. Uncle Sam will now know all. Quite a coincidence that the government is now looking for ways to seize insurance firms. Yes big brother is watching you and he is laughing at you in that ridiculus hospitol gown.

Finally to those of you who were so furious at those dastardly wealthy who weren't paying "their fair share". Is it better now that they have an unfair share. Is the Idea of someone keeping their own profit so obcene that you would rather follow this administations idea of bailout after bailout of the super wealthy, with the tax payers assuming all the risk and the corporation reaping all the rewards. Is that fairness? Or is that facism in it's infancy?

I ASK YOU, HOW LONG DO YOU INTEND TO WRAP YOURSELF IN THE BELIEF THAT IF YOU CONFER THIS POWER TO GOVERNMENT, THAT THEY WILL NOT INFRINGE FURTHER AND FURTHER UNTIL ALL LIBERTY IS LOST?!

WE DIDN;T ASK TO BE AIG SHARE HOLDERS

Let's not try to sugar coat this AIG or the whole bailout situation in general, it's real ugly. Since last October the American taxpayer has been fleeced for almost 1 trillion dollars in the name of stabilizing the economy, (that's not including the 1.5 trillion dollar stimulus package or the 400 billion dollar omnibus bill) AIG got about 170 billion of that money, which according to all the latest reports is not going to get paid back. My fellow citizen might be shocked to know that about 40 Billion of that  AIG money went to stabilize foreign banks. According to the New York times, Society General of France and Deutsche bank of Germany got about 12 billion each, while Barclay's of England and UBS of Switzerland also got multi-billion dollar payouts.
The harsh reality is that this is what AIG does, They are the largest global insurer of property and investments in the world, and now thanks to the United States Congress, so is the American taxpayer. Watching the International banking industry work is very much like snorkeling in a lake full of piranha. Banks and corporations are going out of business and getting gobbled up by each other all the time. This has been going on forever, one day you'll be walking to the market and you will notice that the bank in the strip mall has a new name, happens all the time we usually just don't see the inside baseball of it all.
The sad thing is all of this could have been avoided. Since I been following politics there have been few issues that the majority of the American people tend to agree on. Corporate welfare is one of those issues. I vividly remember Americans from both parties flooding the phone lines of capitol hill, opposed to these bailouts. Congress basically spit in our face and passed it anyway. Now they want to put on this dog and pony show about these bonus, when they actually wrote in protections for the bonuses in the bailout legislation.  Let's not be distracted about the fact that these bonuses are a drop in the bucket compared to all the money congress sunk into this Bottomless AIG pit. Let's not be distracted from the fact that while these congressmen and senators, like Barney Frank and Chris Dodd are feigning their outrage and screaming about making the taxpayer whole, are running around like headless chickens trying to figure out which one of their pet projects and liberty crushing big government program to throw our money away on next.
The Bottom Line is that nothing or no one is to big to fail, sure it would have been painful if AIG went down, but the market would have worked it out, other banks and conglomerates that actually have their own money would have bought up all of AIG's paper at a discount. I'm not going to get into the economics101, but we spent all this money and the economy still went down the drain. It seems to me that instead of just yanking of the bandage, we now have to keep going in for the same surgery.  Maybe It's time we remind our legislators why the American people are really upset, not because AIG is paying it's employees, which they are legally contracted to do, but because we didn't want to get into this business in the first place

CALLING ACES SPADES, In Spades

All my Life I had been taught that if you want to solve a problem, or over come some obstacle, I would have to meet the situation head on. Ignoring the problem or delaying action will only cause more problems than I originally thought I had. Of course like everyone else I've met this challenge with varying degrees of success. Many times I didn't always make the right decision, but at least I had the experience of knowing what not to do the next time.
I want to take this time to thank President Obama and the rest of the left wing establishment for showing me the error of my ways. Who knew that instead of dealing with a problem myself I could just give it another more positive name or phrase, and then blame someone else for everything that happened before the change.
For example if I find myself in a financial mess; I can just rename any overwhelming debt that I may be about to default on, calling them toxic assets.Yes toxic assets, it has sort of menthol cigarette after a long night of drinking and debauchery ring to it.( Disclaimer:The national review board of politicaly correct rhetoric mandates that I assure everyone that this article does not in anyway condone smoking.) I can then take my newly acquired assets down to my bank and borrow more money.
The loan officer would be reassured that I was not in fact borrowing money, but signing off on an absolutely necessary recovery and investment package, that might possibly help me to avert an even larger crisis. Maybe. In the end, it all works out really well, because I won't have to pay off any of this debt anyway. Besides it was the banks predatory lending practices that forced me to take out this loan, that actually isn't a loan, in the first place. Who really cares my neighbor will pay it back, and I get to keep all my stuff. That's what's so great about this Obama era of shared responsibility, everybody gets to share in my irresponsibility and I really don't have to share anything.
The best part about this practice, as the President has showed us, is that you can apply it to any situation. For example suppose I decide to start breaking into peoples houses and stealing their stuff, I don't have to worry about feeling guilty about my new lifestyle choice because I can just tell myself and my family that I've taken up a career in foreign property displacement. With a title like that I can pillage my little heart out, kinda like not calling enemy combatants, well, enemy combatants. It's great you get to keep using all of the previous administrations tactics without having to publicly cozy up to those messy situations that you may have demonized during your campaign. Besides, you know that the press and the people who voted for you, aren't going to actually question you about anything anyway.
Another great thing about whatever form of nomenclature you use to describe your endeavors, is that none of it is set in stone. Better yet it is always "subject to further revision", exactly like the administrations Guantanamo bay policy. which as far as I can tell means: we can change our minds at anytime about this, or we really have no clue what to do. At the very least it means that you really don't have to make a actual decision right now. (DISCLAIMER: Due to it's title and the possible implications of racial insensitiveity, The Political Re-education Committe has placed this entire article under immediate review by order of  The Attorney General)
**The national review board of politicaly correct rhetoric is a subcommitte of the political re-eduucation committe, which is a subcommitte of the department of education, which has recently been placed under the direction of the department of homeland security. All inquires should be made in triplicate.**

A Conservative Doctrine-Setting the Record Straight

last week while listening to a radio show I heard a caller pose an interesting question that touched on the radio host berating liberal faith in government, asking why conservatives have faith in business, when business' do things like lay people off after many years of service. The host addressed a historical and current litany of failed big government, liberal programs. I believe the host missed the boat on this one, he had a chance to define conservatisim to someone who had been fed nothing but the left wing montra.

For to long now conservatives and liberals have been linked to the politics pertaining to either democrats or republicans. The national media has been allowed to characterize these two philosophies based on false pretenses. I would like to take this opportunity to set the record straight. look at John F. Kennedy, this was one of our more conservative presidents in recent history. Kennedy worked to reduce government spending, cut taxes, including the capitol gains tax, Kennedy knew a healthy investor class was a crucial part of a strong economy. Kennedy was a hawk on defense and was extremly anti-communist. (makes you wonder what happened to Ted) Let's not forget his most famous tag line "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." So in just about about every way JFK a democrat was more conservative than either Bush forty-one or forty-three. I grew up in, and still reside in Philadelphia, a democrat stronghold. almost all of my neighbors are democrats, however the larger percentage of these people are not liberals. Many of them are vehemently opposed to welfare programs, abortion, and I meet very few people who really feel good about the idea of raising taxes on anybody.  It is safe to say that being a conservative has little to do with being a republican or democrat in as much as they are the most popular political parties of the day.

So what or even better, who is the American conservative? It is true, the American conservative is sceptical of and distrusts government. He believes in the adage that "government is best which governs least", that law should not impede ones liberty or be crafted to confiscate his property or for the purpose of catering to the changing attitudes, whims or agendas of constituents or legislators. The conservative does not trust business in so much as he trusts human nature. He understands that a person is more likely to provide honest service and good products when motivated by the profits and incentives of repeat patronage. He also does not expect everyone to be on the level in regard to honesty and integrity.

On social issues I recently read an article by Mark Steyn that summed things up real well. "Big government is not a fiscal issue: these programs are not wrong because there unaffordable, there unaffordable because there wrong. They are just not the proper role of government." The conservative believes that government should be managed moraly, government should not and can not manage morality.  When government bureaucracy is formed to engineer a social or moral outcome they become vehicles for corruption and waste. When these programs are instituted by government they have devastating unintended consequences on society. A good example of this is the community  re-investment act. The consequences of which we are dealing with today. It was Thomas Jefferson who said "there is no act' however virtuous, for which ingenuity may not find some bad motive." The conservative is not heartless, or mean sprirted, statistics show time and time again that people who identify themselves as conservatives give larger percentages of their income to charity than those who identify themselves as liberals. He does not have a problem  assisting someone for a period of time if that person has fallen on hard times and has previously paid into the system. But it is Crucial that we do not foster a system of dependency and an ever expanding welfare state. This only empowers government and causes a recession of liberty.

Freedom of religion does not mean freedom from it. The first amendment forbids not just the government endorsement of a particular religion, but forbids any law that prohibits the free exercise of it. So If a group of children who attend a public school want to pray,  the school administration has no grounds to say they are not allowed.

The conservative understands that along with the greatness of humanity comes the bad. Racism, injustice, crime and all the other dark aspects of the human experience are realities that only contact, communication and real education can reduce. I say reduce because human nature will never allow any measure of law or politically correct language to eliminate them. ie. If red ink is deemed to be traumatizing and substituted with purple, eventually purple becomes red.

The conservative understands that the natural state of man, freedom, is alway in conflict with governments ever present capacity for expansion. We must keep a watchfull eye, limiting this leviathon at every opportunity, so as to not extinguish the rare flame of liberty.
